Frequently Asked Questions

How can therapy help me?

Therapy is what you make of it and early on I like to ask if you’re looking more for coping skills, to talk things out and process whatever’s going on, or a mix of both. There’s no “should” when it comes to what to work on in therapy but we can come up with a treatment plan the first couple of sessions to help figure out a good direction for whatever “helpful” could mean to you.

What can I expect for my first session?

I will send you a link to meet through Google Meet after we agree on a day and time. That’s usually during the consult call but it’s totally okay to therapist shop a bit first! Before we meet I will also send you some consent forms to signs and potentially some assessment forms to go through.

The first session itself I’ll try to ask about a few different areas of your life (ie. family, personal history, social relationships) though I like it to feel more like a conversation where we mostly talk about whatever is bringing you in and explore how those different areas impact you.

What are your scheduling and no show policies?

I’m willing to meet with you however often you might need, whether that’s as much as twice a week to just once a month. We can try to meet at the same time each week or keep that flexible as well.

I waive the first no show fee, after that I charge $100 if you cancel within 24 hours of an appointment and can’t reschedule for the same week (emergencies excluded).

How long will appointments last?

I like to give folks the full hour for sessions and most of the time I’m happy to go a bit over too. I schedule half hour breaks between appointments when able so that we don’t have to rush and stress out about time.
